The White Sox knocked around the Twins pitchers in a 12-2 win at Target Field.  Luis Robert led the way at the plate with a double, a grand slam, and five RBIs.  Andrew Vaughn and Seby Zavala also went deep in the victory, and Johnny Cueto picked up his fourth win while holding Minnesota to just one run in six innings.  The 44-and-45 Southsiders are on a three-game winning streak, and they remain in third place in the AL Central.

 

The Cubs were shutout by the Mets 8-0 at Wrigley Field.  The North-Siders had eight hits in the ballgame, but the team went one-for-six with runners in scoring position.  Seiya Suzuki and Nico Hoerner each had two hits in the losing effort.  Keegan Thompson fell to 7-and-4 after giving up five runs on eight hits in four-and-a-third innings.  The Cubs have lost their last seven games to fall to 34-and-55 and will send Marcus Stroman to the mound against the Mets tonight. 

In other team news, the Cubs activated first baseman Frank Schwindel from the injured list and placed shortstop Andrelton Simmons on the IL.

 

 The Cardinals managed just five hits in a 4-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Busch Stadium.  Dylan Carlson and Nolan Arenado each had two hits in the losing effort as St. Louis went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.  Dakota Hudson was tagged with his sixth loss after giving up four runs in six-and-two-third innings.  The Cardinals fall to 48-and-44, and will send Andre Pallante to the mound when they take on the Reds at home tonight.

The Cardinals are getting one of their Gold Glove outfielders back.  Tyler O’Neill was activated from the injured list yesterday.  He was placed on the IL on June 20th after straining his left hamstring. In a corresponding move, St. Louis optioned outfielder Lars Nootbaar to Triple-A Memphis.

 

The Chicago Sky still have the best record in the WNBA following an 80-68 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto-dot-com Arena. The Sky improves to 18-and-6, and will visit the Wings tomorrow night.

 

The Chicago Bulls beat the Charlotte Hornets 89-73 in a Summer League game. The Bulls will take on the 76ers in another Summer League contest tomorrow night.

 

Cameron Young is leading the way after the first round at The Open Championship in St. Andrews, Scotland.  Young finished the opening round with an eight under par. 

 

The NASCAR Cup Series rolls into the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday for the Foxwoods Resort Casino 301. 

 

Coors beer is returning to the Super Bowl.  The Molson Coors Beverage company is returning to the big game next year for the first time in over three decades.  Anheuser-Busch made a deal with the NFL in 1989 that made it the exclusive alcohol advertiser during the Super Bowl.
