Like many communities in LaSalle County, the city of Marseilles has received complaints from residents about Republic Services missing trash and recycling pickup. Municipal Service Manager Jim Pozzi says one problem the company has been having is a shortage of staff. He says the company has had a 75% turnover rate so he has the trucks but not the drivers.
He also says acquiring River City Waste Services caused problems. Republic had to scrap 90% of the trucks because they were in such bad shape. And the company had to fire some staff because some didn’t have a CDL license. They made one person a supervisor and were able to keep one other person.
He says the good news is that the company is getting fully staffed. He says the company is getting three drivers to be able to go out by themselves.
He is asking residents to remain patient as they work through the issues. He says he thinks service could be better in about two months if employees don’t leave the company.
