Prosecutors will have a hearing on autopsy photos they want to use in the retrial for 29-year old Bradley French of Varna. He’s accused of using a compound bow and razor-tipped arrow to kill 38-year old Joshua Scaman in Oglesby in 2015. If the schedule doesn’t change, after that hearing on August 31st, jury selection will start September 19th.

The local appellate court dismissed a murder conviction and 30-year sentence, finding that French should have been allowed to make a stronger self-defense claim. There was testimony that Scaman had been harassing a woman French knew. The prosecutor at French’s first trial argued that he went out looking for trouble and found it.
