LaSalle County property tax payers have until Thursday to make their first installments on the nearly $253 million due this year. As of the middle of last week, the county treasurer’s office took in close to $60 million. That amount will be paid Tuesday to 159 taxing districts.
More than 66,000 tax bills were sent out this year with a total due of more than $252 million. Payments can be made in person at the Etna Rd. courthouse in Ottawa, in a drop box outside, by mail, and at many area banks. There are also credit card and automatic withdrawal options with service charges.
