Sometimes church folk do their best work outside the church building. Marseilles Community Ministerial Association President Troy Tvrdik says the eight churches in the association started a community center to have a neutral location. Someone who needs help but doesn’t want to get it at a church will feel more comfortable there. Also, it side steps the reluctance some church people have about going to other people’s churches.
Tvrdik says it took a year to remodel the inside of the former Casey’s General Store at 850 W. bluff St. Now it can host lunches and activities for kids out of school for the summer.
The community center’s open house was Saturday.
