Leading the questioning in the January 6th House Select Committee hearing yesterday, Cong. Adam Kinzinger asked former Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue about conversations with Donald Trump. Those conversations happened after the December 2020 election certification. Donoghue said Trump wanted the Justice Department to declare that there had been fraud and Republican members of Congress were to take care of the details.
The hearing focused on the pressure former Pres. Trump is accused of putting on the Justice Department to keep him in the White House. Kinzinger said a president must not be allowed to use the Justice Department’s employees for his personal bidding when the goal is to subvert democracy.
