The Chicago White Sox were in full control during a 13-0 win over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.  Yoan Moncada went five for six with a home run and five RBIs, while Jose Abreu had four hits and two RBIs.  Danny Mendick and Seby Zavala each went deep in the victory.  The Sox improve to 30-and-31 and begin a series against Houston tomorrow night.

 

The Chicago Cubs got knocked around by Padres hitters in a 19-5 loss at Wrigley Field.  The Cubs led the game by two runs through three innings before giving up three in the fourth and another six in the fifth.  Caleb Kilian picked up his first loss after giving up five runs in four innings of work.  Christopher Morel had a home run and three RBIs in the losing effort.  The Cubs drop to 23-and-39 with the loss, and will send Matt Swarmer to the mound against the Padres to close out the series this afternoon. 

 

The Cubs placed infielder Nick Madrigal on the 10-day injured list yesterday.  Madrigal left last Friday’s game against the Yankees with groin tightness. To replace Madrigal on the roster, the Cubs recalled pitcher Caleb Kilian from Triple A. 

 

The Cardinals bullpen gave up a back-breaking home run to spoil Jack Flaherty’s return to the team in a 6-4 loss to the Pirates at Busch Stadium.  Andre Pallante gave up a go-ahead two-run home run to Bryan Reynolds in the top of the seventh and was tagged with the loss.  At the plate, Brendan Donovan had three hits and two RBIs, while Dylan Carlson hit his fourth home run of the season.  The Cards send Adam Wainwright to the mound against Boston when they play tomorrow night.

 

Jordan Hicks could be heading back to the Cardinals roster relatively soon.  The right handed pitcher will reportedly begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis this week.

The Colorado Avalanche beat the Lightning 4-3 in Game One of the Stanley Cup Final in Denver.  Tampa Bay stormed back to force overtime after trailing 3-1 after the first period. The teams meet again for Game Two on Saturday in Denver

 

The Warriors have a chance to add their seventh NBA Championship in franchise history tonight.  Golden State will visit the Celtics for Game Six of the NBA Finals in Boston.  The Warriors hold a 3-2 series advantage after winning Game Five 104-94 at home.  The Celtics are hoping to force a Game Seven in San Francisco on Sunday. Boston is chasing its 18th Championship in franchise history. 

 

Over in the PGA, the first round of the US Open in Brookline tees off this morning.  Jon Rahm is the defending champion after winning last year’s tournament with a six under par.
