Constellation Energy, now the owner of LaSalle Station, says its fleet of nuclear power plants is ready to provide all the usual power during the heat wave. Senior Communications Manager Brett Nauman says occasional maintenance shutdowns prevent most unintended failure-related shutdowns. Those are the shutdowns when hundreds more people work at the reactor site for about three weeks every couple years.
LaSalle Station Unit One was shut down for maintenance this year. Unit two’s turn will be next year.
