The White Sox blew a four run lead in their 11-9 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Guaranteed Rate Field.  The Southsiders gave up six runs in the fifth and another four in the sixth, and they were never able to retake the lead.  AJ Pollock had three hits and two RBI in the losing effort, and Jake Burger launched his seventh home run. The Sox are now 26-and-29. 

Manager Tony La Russa isn’t regretting his call during the White Sox’s loss when he decided to intentionally walk Trea Turner with a 1-2 count in the sixth inning.  Turner took his base with two outs in the inning, and Max Muncy launched a three-run home run in the following at bat for LA.  When asked about the questionable call after the game, La Russa said “somebody disagrees, that’s the beauty of this game, they’re welcome to it.”  

 

The Cubs start a weekend series with the Yankees in New York tonight.  The Cubs enter the contest as the fourth-place team in the NL Central with a 23-and-33 record.  They’re eight-and-a-half games out of first place. Meanwhile, the Yankees have the best record in the MLB at 41-and-16.  

 

The Cardinals managed just two hits in a 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field.  Miles Mikolas tossed a complete game in a contest that was finished in less than two hours.  Mikolas was tagged with his fourth loss of the season after giving up two runs in eight innings.  The Cardinals fall to 32-and-26 with the loss, and will send Andre Pallante to the mound at home against the Reds tonight.

 

The Tampa Bay Lightning came back to defeat the Rangers 3-1 in Game Five of the NHL Eastern Conference Finals in New York. The Lightning are now up three games to two on New York with the series heading back to Tampa for Game Six tomorrow night.  The winner will take on the Western Conference champion Colorado Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Final.

 

The Warriors look to even the score with the Celtics in the NBA Finals tonight. Game Four of the best-of-seven set is in Boston with the Celtics currently holding a two-games-to-one lead.

 

Over in the PGA, Wyndham Clark is leading the way after round one at the RBC Canadian Open in Toronto. 

 

The NASCAR Cup Series is heading to California this weekend for The Toyota Save Mart 350 at the Sonoma Raceway.
