Hospice and higher room rates could generate revenue for LaSalle County Nursing Home

LaSalle County Nursing Home Director Carrie Becker is looking for ways to try and bring in revenue to the home. Becker says she would like to increase the room rates, which are at $79 right now. Another option could be adding a hospice wing.

She says it would also be unique because there isn’t another hospice care center within forty-five miles of the nursing home.

She says even when the home is full, the home generates about $500,000. But that’s still not quite enough to run it without a loss.  The LaSalle County Finance Committee is looking to hire a consultant to see if the home can be profitable. Last year the home lost about three million dollars.

She explained these ideas to the LaSalle County Nursing Home and Veterans Assistance Commission committee Thursday morning.
