The St. Louis Cardinals begin a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field tonight. The Cards took three of five from the Cubs over the weekend to improve to 32-and-23. They’re just a half-game behind the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the NL Central.
The Cards Tyler O’Neill is expected to rejoin the team for tonight’s game against the Rays barring any setbacks. The outfielder is dealing with a right shoulder impingement and has been on the injured list since May 20th.
The Colorado Avalanche are heading to the Stanley Cup Final. Colorado eliminated the Oilers with a 6-5 overtime victory in Game Four to complete the sweep. The Avalanche advanced to its first Cup Final since winning in 2001. Tonight in game four of the Eastern Conference Finals, the New York Rangers will battle the Lightning in Tampa. New York leads the series 2-1.
The NBA Finals are off one more night as the Celtics and Warriors will clash in Game Three of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night in Boston. After the Celtics stole home-court advantage with a win in Game One, Golden State bounced back with a dominating 19-point victory on Sunday to tie the series at one. Boston is seeking its first title since 2008, while the Warriors are gunning for their fourth championship in eight years.
In the NFL, Los Angeles Rams announced that defensive tackle Aaron Donald is returning to the franchise on a reworked deal. The Team reports the new contract is a 40-million dollar raise over the final three years of his current contract. That equates to 95-million dollars over three seasons and makes Donald the first non-quarterback to earn over 30-million dollars a season.
In NBA news,The Chicago Bulls are one of the teams interested in trading for Jazz center Rudy Gobert. The Bulls had a struggling defense last season, but Gobert would lock things down a bit more as one of the best defenders in the NBA.
