Cong. Adam Kinzinger is asking Pres. Biden to sanction key Syrian officials. The Channahon Republican recently participated in a virtual conference with the Citizens for a Safe Secure America.
The group showed a shocking video from 2013 of soldiers from Syrian Pres. Bashar al-Assad’s military shooting and killing innocent civilians, throwing them in a pit, and burning their bodies. 228 people were killed including seven women and twelve children.
Kinzinger says the US needs to do everything in its power to shed light on these heinous events and hold Assad and his backers accountable. He also says Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin over the years has given Assad significant financial, strategic, and tactical support.
He says the role that Russia has played in Syria and during their invasion of Ukraine needs to be acknowledged as well.
