A loud pop some people heard in the area of Champlain and Joliet streets in Ottawa late yesterday morning was a steam bag bursting. It also looked like smoke was coming out of sewer through the street. The sewer repair crew is using a no-dig method that sticks a plastic liner to the insides of the pipes. Steam bonds the plastic to the pipes. The Ottawa Fire Department got a report of an explosion in the area at 11:19am. It says there was no fire.
