Ottawa’s Memorial Day events included a new ceremony. Amvets Post 30 Senior Vice Commander Ron Hickey gave the main talk at the Vietnam War Memorial Plaza near the north end of Veterans Memorial Bridge.
There was a wreath drop into the Fox River, a parade up Columbus St., and the main ceremony in Washington Park. Hundreds of people were there on a mildly warm, sunny morning. Mayor Dan Aussem was one of the speakers.
