A now retired Ottawa fire fighter put in a lot of years. Wayne Christensen retired yesterday. His last call was just after 2pm when a 911 dispatcher announced his retirement over the radio system and he thanked her. The Ottawa Fire Fighters Local 523 union says Chistensen worked for the department for 37 years. He left at the rank of Captain. The Police and Fire Commission will meet June 8th to decide who’s promoted to fill the vacancy in the rank.
