County Board rejects home occupation permit as too much like a regular business

A split County Board last week said no to a special use permit for a civil engineering office that would have been along Illinois 23 at N. 4099th Rd. in the Harding area. The board members said there’s no home on the lot now, the civil engineering business would be in its own building anyway, and it would have employees who don’t live there. It sounded too much like a regular business for 12 of the board members to go along with it. They outnumbered the ten who voted for it. The approval recommendation from the Zoning Board of Appeals was also on a split vote, four to three.

How they voted:
Yes: Pottinger, Erbrederis, Bernal, Savitch, Kasap, Torres, Walsh, Trager, Znaniecki, Myers

No: Faber, Owens, Borchsenius, Oscepinski, Witczak, Stockley, Emmett, Freeman, Green, Roach, Blue, Walter
