The future of ambulance service in Streator is still up in the air. Advanced Medical Transport, a private ambulance company, has told the city council that they will leave if there isn’t a new contract.

The company says it’s not making enough money to continue to run the private service. City Manager David Plyman says there are alternatives. He says the city could bring the service in house or they can sign another contract. But he says before a choice is made, the council should know all the options.

Plyman will propose purchasing an ambulance at the next city council meeting. If the council doesn’t start its own service, they can sell the ambulance. He says there should be an official decision by June.
