The usual price of a one-year pass to parks in the National Park Service is $80. Military members and veterans can get one-year passes for free. Disabled people can get lifetime free passes. Fourth graders can get free passes good for a few months.
Park Ranger Julie McDonald says there are other passes, but those are the ones you can get at the Illinois Waterway Visitors Center on Dee Bennett Rd.
No pass is needed to go to the Illinois Waterway Visitors Center though.
