Results from high school baseball
Marquette defeated Woodland 8-2 at Masinelli Field. Aiden Thompson was on the mound striking out 11 batters and allowing only 3 hits.
Serena dominated at home over Earlville 21-2 in 4 innings. Cole Shannon pitched 4 innings with 5 strikeouts and Dylan Cartwright batted a single, two doubles with 4 RBIs.
Newark were winners at Somonauk 7-1. Joe Martin dominated on the mound pitching 6 innings with 14 strikeouts.
Seneca lost at home to Midland 4-3. Austin Aldridge pitched 10 strikeouts and Paxton Giertz nailed a solo homerun in the loss.
Streator lost to their host Manteno 9-3. Jenson Ketcham blasted a home run in the road loss.
In Softball
Ottawa were winners at Sandwich 10-0 in 5 innings. Maura Condon pitched 5 innings with 6 strikeouts. McKenzie Oslanzi double, triple and had 3 RBIs, Hailey Larsen nailed a solo homerun.
Marquette outscored Woodland 9-3 at June Gross Field. Pitcher Kaylee Killelea gave up only 2 runs with 11 strikeouts.
Serena won at home over Earlville 12-5. Maddie Glade went 7 innings with 10 strikeouts, Katie Baker had two triples and an RBI and Jenna Setchell finished with two singles, a triple and a RBI in the victory.
Streator suffered a loss at Manteno 7-2. Rilee Talty nailed a solo homer with Jaelyn Blakemore getting a single and a triple in the loss
Seneca got a big win at home over Midland 12-0 in 5 innings. Taya Roe pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts. Alyssa Zellers blasted two home runs and Sam Vandevelde and Kennedy Hartwig each had a homerun in the win.
Newark won on the road at Somonauk 11-0 in 6 innings. Kaitlyn Schofield had a strong performance pitching a no hitter with 15 strikeouts and on offense, Schofield hit a triple, double and a single.
In tennis, the Ottawa JV team defeated Morris 5-0. Rylan Salas and Colin Olszewski won in singles. Partners Alan Sifuentes and Karcin Hagi, the team of Landon Thorsen and Ethan Farr and partners Trevor Mortenson and Aric Threadgill were all winners in doubles.
