A homeless man is accused of causing two separate incidents at the Circle K in Ottawa. Detective Sgt. Kyle Booras says 45-year old Eugene J. Orvis was developed as a suspect after police allegedly saw surveillance video of him trying to rob the store last Saturday morning. Police were not able to find him after the incident.

Booras says police were then called back to the gas station Monday morning after a vehicle was apparently stolen. The vehicle was found crashed and abandoned on Guion St. and Orvis was again developed as a suspect.

He was later arrested Monday during a traffic stop on a separate failure to appear warrant. Afterward, he was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and attempted aggravated robbery. He is in the LaSalle County Jail with a bond set at $200,000. He will be back in court next week.
