The Cubs rookie sensation, outfielder Seiya Suzuki extended his hitting streak to nine games after going 2 for 3 in the North-Siders 4-2 win over the Rays at Wrigley Field. Patrick Wisdom hit a two-run homer and Frank Schwindel a solo shot for the Cubs, who improved to 6-and-4. The three-game set continues tonight.
Former Cub and Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta is calling it a career after 12 major league seasons. The 36-year-old said on Barstool Sports that it’s his time to step away from the game. During Arrieta’s five seasons with the Cubs, he tossed two no-hitters, won the National League Cy Young in 2015 and the World Series in 2016.
The Cardinals are in Miami to open up a three-game series against the Marlins tonight. St. Louis split its four-game set in Milwaukee after losing Sunday’s series finale. Adam Wainwright will get the start tonight for the Cards.
The Blackhawks gave up three first period goals on their way to a 5-2 loss to Calgary at home. Tyler Johnson and Alec Regula scored for the Hawks who have dropped 10 of their last 11. The Blackhawks begin a three-game west coast road trip tomorrow in Arizona.
In the NBA Playoffs, The 76ers rolled over the Raptors 112-97 in Philadelphia to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.
Out west, the Warriors had their way with the Nuggets to win 126-106 as they take a 2-0 series lead and the Mavericks tied the series at one a piece with the Jazz after a 110-104 victory in Dallas.

The Chicago Bulls are getting an extra day to prepare for the Bucks. Game Two of their first round playoff series is set for tomorrow in Milwaukee. The Bulls lost the series opener 93-86 on Sunday.
