High School Baseball
Marquette swept Crossroads Christian in a Double Header at Masinelli Field.
The Crusaders won game one 15-0. Tom Durdan and Primo Pattelli each drove in three runs with Carson Zellers and Hayden McKenna combining for 9 strikeouts on the mound.
The Cru won game two 11-0. Pitcher Sam Mitre went 3 innings with 6 strikeouts, Logan Nelson had 2 RBIs and Primo Patelli batted a single and 2 RBIs.
Streator dominated Rochelle 15-0 in 4 innings. Pitchers Adam Williamson and Cole Martin each went 2 innings while Brady Grabowski and Jack Starkey each drove in 3 runs for the Bulldogs.
Seneca won at home over Serena 11-3. For the Irish, Calvin Maierhofer pitched 6 innings with 6 strikeouts and Bryce Roe blasted a Home run and had 3 RBIs.
Highlights for the Huskers, Leo Brennan, Todd Smith and Hudson Stafford each had RBIs in the loss.
Ottawa competed on the road in a triangular event. The Pirates were shutout by their host Putnam County 6-0 and lost to Washington 6-3.
LP split a Double-Header on the road at Morton. The Cavaliers lost the 1st game 8-4 and then turned the score around and won 8-4.
Newark held on to beat their host Plano 7-6 .
High School Softball
Ottawa were winners at Rock Falls 6-4. Ryleigh Stehl hit a game changing 2 run homer in the seventh, Lily Nanouski pitched a complete game allowing 9 hits with 5 strikeouts for the Lady Pirates. Also at Rock Falls, Ottawa also competed with Rockridge and lost 5-2.
Seneca finished as champions and Serena placed 2nd at the Irish Invitational. Seneca defeated Serena in the Championship contest 10-8. For the Lady Irish, Taya Roe pitched 7 innings with 6 strikeouts and on offense had a double, home run and RBI in the win.
For the Lady Huskers, RayElle Brennan finished with two doubles, two singles and drove in three runs
Newark split a double-header on the road at Geneseo. Highlights for the Lady Norsemen: Kodi Rizzo had a big day with two home runs and earned the win in pitching with 4 strikeouts. Bre Dixon, Kailey Wohead and Danica Peshia each had a homerun on the day.
St. Bede won big on the road over Putnam County 13-2.
Girls Soccer
Streator placed 4th at the Princeton Invitational. The Lady Bulldogs defeated LP 6-5 but lost to Dixon 2-0 and their host Princeton 5-1.
The Ottawa Lady Pirates won at home over Coal City 3-1 and improved to three and one on the season.
