Over the weekend was the 38th annual Leland Lions Club Little 10 and Interstate 8 All-Star Shootout at Indian Creek High School.

In the boys matchup, the I8 defeated the Little 10  129-103. LP’s John Riva led the I8 team with 30 points. For the Ottawa Pirates both Braiden Miller and Luke Cushing had a strong performance. Miller had 20 points, 10 rebounds and Cushing finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in the I8 victory.

For the girls, The Interstate 8 team also won 70-34. For the I8, Sycamore’s Faith Feuerbach led the way with 25 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Brooke Waddell represented the Lady Pirates. Newark’s Kellie Snyder had nine points and 11 rebounds to lead the Little 10 team.  

 

 

In high school baseball

Marquette won at home over Aurora Christian 9-2 at Masinelli Field. The Crusaders Logan Nelson pitched 5 innings with 8 strikeouts and batted a 3 run double in the win.

 

Ottawa shutout Somonauk 10-0 in six innings at Whitney Field. Rylan Dorsey threw 4 innings with 6 strikeouts and Luke Cushing finished with a double, triple and 3 RBIs.

 

Streator were winners at home against Plano 13-3 in six innings. The Bulldogs Adam Williamson pitched 4 innings with 4 strikeouts, Christian Benning also went 1 inning and 2 strikeouts in the win.

 

Seneca defeated Woodland 11-1, in six innings. Austin Aldridge had a strong performance on the mound with no runs allowed, 13 strikeouts in five innings for the Irish. Ethan Schumm went 5 innings, 4 earned runs and 3 strikeouts for Woodland in the loss.

 

Earlville won on the road at West Carroll 13-2. For the Red Raiders, Griffin Cook pitched 10 strikeouts and Bryar Keller had a big day with a homerun, double and two RBIs.

 

LP scored a big win over Sandwich 15-0 in 4 innings. For the Cavaliers, Mason Lynch went over 3 innings on the mound with 6 strikeouts and Aidan Van Duzer hit a homerun and an RBI.

 

In softball

Streator won big at home over Plano 17-0. Jaelyn Blakemore allowed two hits, walked one and struck out 6 in three innings for the Lady Bulldogs.

 

Serena suffered a tough loss at home to Naperville North 11-5. Highlight for the Lady Huskers was Jenna Setchell rocking a two-run homer.

 

Earlville won on the road at West Carroll 10-3. The Lady Red Raiders Paige Marks was the winning pitcher, throwing a complete game striking out 7 batters.

 

The Ottawa girls soccer team earned a road victory over their Route 23 rival the Streator Lady Bulldogs 1-0. Gabi Krueger scored the lone goal in the game for the Lady Pirates.
