The Cubs and White Sox both won in Spring Training yesterday.  The Cubs beat the Mariners 8-5 in Mesa.  The White Sox blanked the Rangers 7-0 in Phoenix.  The SouthSiders play the Reds today in Goodyear, Arizona, and the Cubs have an off day. 

Be sure to tune in tomorrow at 3pm to 935 1430 WCMY for White Sox baseball when the Sox play the A’s in spring training action.

The Cardinals beat the Nationals 29-8 in the Grapefruit League. Yadier Molina, Paul Goldschmidt and Paul DeJong each hit a home run in the winning effort and St. Louis scored 15 runs in the eighth inning.  Today the Cardinals play the Marlins in Sarasota, Florida. 

Xavier goes head-to-head with Texas A&M in tonight’s NIT final at Madison Square Garden. Texas A&M has never played in an NIT final while Xavier is looking for its second title after beating Dayton back in 1958.

The Bulls are back at the United Center and will host the LA Clippers tonight.  The Bulls enter the matchup at 44-and-32.  

The Blackhawks are heading down to South Florida to face the Panthers tonight.  The Hawks come in at 24-33-and-10 after splitting their last four games. 

For the first time in eight years the United States Men’s National Soccer Team will be participating in the World Cup.  The USMNT clinched its spot after falling to Costa Rica 2-0. This marks the 11th World Cup appearance in the history of the US Men’s Soccer Team. 

With one week to go before The Masters, the PGA Tour is visiting TPC San Antonio for the 100th anniversary of the Valero Texas Open. The winner of this year’s tournament will take home just under 1.4 million-dollars.

 

Some NFL news

The Bears agreed to a one-year contract with defensive back Dane Cruik-shank.  The deal will reportedly pay him over 1-million dollars guaranteed.  Cruikshank spent the last four seasons with the Tennessee Titans. 

 

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians is retiring.  The 69-year-old is taking on a front office role with the team effective immediately as senior consultant for football. Defensive coordinator Todd Bowles will take over the job for Arians.
