Ameren Illinois is alerting its customers about financial help available for income-qualified families and individuals who need help paying electric and natural gas bills. Sr. VP of Customer Experience Mary Heger says the programs including applying for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP.
But the deadline is May 31. Eligible customers with past due payments could also establish a repayment plan by making a ten percent down payment by next Thursday.
Heger says it’s been tough for customers to pay their bills even with the pandemic. She says the company recognizes that many individuals are still having financial difficulties.
She also says this applies to both electric and gas service through Ameren. Other programs besides LIHEAP include a 10% down payment option. A program to Pick-A-Due-Date and Budget Billing. Customers could also look for help through the Warm Neighbors Cool Friends program.
