Private ambulance service AMT, which serves the city of Streator, is looking for a public subsidy from the city. The subsidy would help continue to provide ambulance service for residents.

But City Manager David Plyman says it could cost the city around 300 to 500 thousand dollars a year. He says he was asked by the city council to look at all options, which could include having the city run the ambulance service. He says the city has commissioned an actuary to determine pension costs.

He says an official decision hasn’t been made but AMT wants to know what the city is doing by June.
