At the Reed-Custer Invitational in the girls division, Seneca dominated taking 1st, Morris placed second and Streator finished ninth.
At the St Ambrose University High School Classic, The Streator Bulldogs competed with 16 other teams to finish in 7th place.
In college basketball
The Big Ten tournament wrapped up this weekend with the Iowa Hawkeyes winning the conference championship over Purdue 75-66. The Fighting Illini were knocked out in the quarterfinal round by Indiana 65-63.
Selections and rankings were made for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament yesterday that will tip off tomorrow. Illinois is ranked 4th in the South region and will face 13th ranked Chattanooga on Friday.
Other Big Ten teams participating in the college Big Dance: also with the Illini in the South, Michigan takes on Colorado State and Ohio State faces Loyola. In the Midwest region, Iowa versus Richmond and Wisconsin takes on Colgate. In the West Region Michigan State faces Davidson and in the East Region, Purdue takes on Yale.
Notre Dame is also heading to the NCAA Tournament. The Fighting Irish earned an 11-seed and will clash with the Big Ten’s Rutgers in a First Four matchup on Wednesday in Dayton, Ohio. The winner will advance to take on Alabama on Friday in San Diego.
The Chicago Bulls begin a three-game west coast trip tonight in Sacramento against the Kings. The Bulls will also visit Utah and Phoenix on their road trip this week.
The Blackhawks are back home to take on the Boston Bruins tomorrow night. The Hawks will then have a few days off before traveling to face Minnesota on Saturday.
The Cubs and White Sox will begin spring play later this week. The teams will square off in a pair of split squad games on Thursday in Arizona. A revised spring schedule was released for all teams yesterday. The regular-season starts April 7th. In roster news, the Sox reportedly signed pitcher Vince Velasquez.
The Chicago Fire posted their first victory of the season in the MLS and remain undefeated with a 2-0 victory over host D.C. United on Saturday in Washington. The Fire are now 1-0-2.
Over in the PGA, Round three at The Players Championship was suspended due to darkness yesterday with Anirban Lahiri on top of the leaderboard at nine-under par.
In NASCAR, Chase Briscoe won the Ruoff Mortgage 500 at Phoenix Raceway in Arizona.
Just two months after announcing the end of his NFL career, Tom Brady is returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for his 23rd NFL season. In a post on social media, Brady said that he has realized his place is still on the field and that he has unfinished business.
