Three men were honored at Monday’s Peru City Council meeting for their willingness to care for someone. Deputy Police Chief Sarah Raymond says on January 25th, the three men called 911 about a woman who was about to jump off the IL 251 bridge onto Interstate 80.

She says the three teens stayed in the area to make sure that the woman was okay. She says the woman was eventually coerced to come back over the bridge. The woman was able to get the help she needed.

Adam Odell, Logan Arkels , and Brandon Stopka  were honored with a citizenship award in their names. Raymond says the plaque will be hung in the lobby of Peru Police Department.

Raymond says she was happy to see the efforts of the three teens.

She says she hopes that other names of people who show their effort and wiliness to help others can fill the plaque.
