The winter high school sports wrapped up this weekend in the Ottawa area
On WCMY, Ottawa ended their basketball season at the Class 3A Rock Island Regional Championship to their host Rock Island 71-48. For the Pirates, Anthony Miller finished with 15 points and Luke Cushing scored 13 points and 4 assists.
On our sister station 95.3 Jack FM, Marquette suffered a tough loss to Yorkville Christian 73-32 at the Serena Class 1A Regional Championship. The Ewers boys ended their high school careers with Brady scoring 11 points and Beau with 10 for the Crusaders.
At the first ever IHSA Girls State wrestling tournament. Sara Meyer won 3rd place in the 140 pound class for the Ottawa Lady Pirates.
The LP-Ottawa swim team’s Ryan Nelson and Joe Ovanic finished their season after day one of the two day state tournament event. Nelson competed in the 50 and 100 freestyle and Ovanic competed in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke.

The Serena Lady Huskers will host Colfax in the Serena Class 1A Super Sectional.
AND Fieldcrest will face Chicago Butler at the Class 2A Morton College Super Sectional

The 14th-ranked Fighting Illini knocked off Michigan 93-85 in Ann Arbor to move to 20-and-8 on the season and 13-and-5 in Big Ten play. The Illini wrap up the regular season hosting Penn State Thursday and Iowa on Sunday. Tonight the Northwestern Wildcats will visit the Iowa Hawkeyes.
The Blackhawks failed to get anything going in a 4-0 home loss to the St. Louis Blues. The Hawks are now off until Thursday when they host Edmonton.
Tonight the Chicago Bulls visit the Heat in Miami for first place in the East. The Bulls are now 39-and-22 on the season, one game behind the Heat for the best record in the Eastern Conference.
The Chicago Fire played Miami to a scoreless draw on the road to begin the year in the MLS. The Fire host Orlando this Saturday in their home opener.
In the PGA, Sepp Straka is celebrating a comeback victory in the Honda Classic at the Palm Beach Gardens in Florida.
Over in NASCAR, Kyle Larson won the Auto Club 400 in Fontana California.
