One of the two people taken to the hospital after the single vehicle crash on Interstate 80 westbound near Ottawa has died. LaSalle County Coroner Rich Ploch says the passenger died after being taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was 40-year old Erica N. Maloy.
The driver was also taken to the hospital, but there hasn’t been an update on that person’s condition. Ploch says the accident is still under investigation.
The crash backed up traffic on Interstate 80 for several hours Friday morning.
Clarification and correction: the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office previously identified the woman who died after the crash as Nicole N. Maloy.
