Nearly fifty residents were looked at by EMS crews after the Streator Fire Department was called to a fire in the 600 block of Morrell St. Thursday. The fire department says they were called after an activated fire alarm at Fornof Manors.
No one needed to go to the hospital. The department says when they entered the building; they found a fire in a first floor apartment and put it out within five minutes.
One apartment was deemed uninhabitable because of the fire and smoke damage and the remainder of the first floor suffered minor smoke damage. The remainder of the building was unharmed.
Mutual aid showed up from Grand Ridge, Allen Township, Lostant, Leonore, and Reading Fire Departments.EMS units that responded were from Ottawa, Lostant, and Marseilles.
