In some ways, getting an unconscious woman out of a house after a fire was just another day at work for Ottawa fire fighters Nick Allegretti and Cameron Lair. Allegretti says putting out the fire and finding the woman was just what needed to be done at the moment. But it’s why she survived.
Lair had the same feelings after he and Allegretti were given gallantry awards at tonight’s City Council meeting. He says the significance didn’t sink in right away.
The fire happened in the 700 block of Mulberry St. four weeks ago.
