A new LaSalle County Board resolution says the parks director and his employees won’t have guns with them on the job. Parks Director Ken Henze doesn’t want one anyway. And Sheriff Adam Diss told County Board members he’d rather the park employees call law enforcement if there’s a problem serious enough to require fire power.

Board member Curtis Faber last week tried to change a Parks Department rules update to allow the employees to have guns. He says the need of having to shoot a sick or wounded animal could come up, but other board members said that’s what the Animal Control office is for. And if there’s ever a situation where a human is threatening other people, police need to be called. Only one other board member joined Faber, so the proposed change didn’t pass.
