Ottawa won a thriller in overtime at Kingman Gym over Rochelle 66-60. The Pirates Braiden Miller had a huge performance with a 20-20 double-double finishing with 20 points and 20 rebounds. Luke Cushing also had a big night with a game high 22 points.

 

Marquette had a strong 2nd half but came up short at Putnam County 63-60. Tom Durdan led the Crusaders with a game high 21 points with Logan Nelson finishing with 15 points and 7 rebounds.

 

The JV team were winners at Putnam County 57-34. Carson Zellers finished with 20 points for Marquette.

 

Seneca easily defeated Wilmington 79-54. Noah Quigley finished with 21 points and Paxton Giertz and David Bergeson each scored 20 points for the Irish.

 

Streator won in the final seconds at Herscher 48-45. Christian Benning hit the game winning 3 with 3.2 seconds left in the game. Jack Starkey led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

 

LP were winners at home over Sandwich 58-43 in an I8 conference matchup. John Riva scored a game-high 25 points for the Cavaliers. On Saturday LP lost at Morris 72-58.

 

Final results from the Little Ten Conference Boys Basketball Tournament. Indian Creek defeated Earlville 51-48 in the consolation final. Hinckley-Big Rock finished 3rd by beating Serena 62-47 and Somonauk won the Championship by defeating Newark 55-49. The Little Ten Tournament started in 1920 and is the oldest conference tournament in Illinois 

 

Ottawa held on to win on the road at Rock Falls 37-35 in girls basketball.  For the Lady Pirates, Cheyenne Joachim and Brooke Waddell scored 9 points apiece and. Zoe Harris added eight points in the tight victory.

 

Games scheduled tonight for the girls: Marquette will host Flanagan at Bader Gym, Streator is at Reed-Custer and LP is home to take on United Township.

 

The LP Co-Op swim team competed against Kewanee and their host Byron in a Triangular contest. Ryan Nelson won the 50 and 100 freestyle. Joe Ovanic won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke and Dillon Malerk was the winner in the 200 individual medley. 

Nelson and Ovanic teamed up with Owen Phillips and Chris Lowery to win the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay. Malerk, Tucker Ditchfield, Danny Marini and Duncan Berry swam to victory in the 200 freestyle relay.

 

At the Seneca Class 1A Boys Wrestling Regional, The Irish team finished 4th and will send Kyler Hahn, Tommy Milton. Jaden Casey, Robby Nelson. Owen Feiner and Chris Peura  to the Coal City Sectional.

 

At the Minooka regional in Girls Bowling, The Ottawa Lady Pirates Laura Pool and Mckenzie Lewis move on to the next round at the LP Sectional on Saturday.

 

At the state quarterfinals in Junior high basketball

In the Class 1A, Marquette 7th graders came up short to Limestone Walters 50-34. Mack Thompson scored 15 points and Cade Durdan ended the season with 11 points for the Knights.

 

In the Class 4A, the Shepherd 7th grade team suffered a tough loss to East Peoria Central 40-25. Griffin Dobberstein scored nine points in the final game of the season for the Rams.

 

The Marquette 8th grade boys won their 1A regional against their host Holy Family 32-19. Alec Novotney had 12 points and Grant Dose finished with 8 points for the Academy.
