A Sangamon County judge’s ruling on masks and other COVID-19 prevention efforts won’t directly affect most schools in north central Illinois. The judge ruled that Gov. Pritzker’s orders requiring masks and vaccines go beyond his authority. The judge also ruled that it’s not a class action case, meaning school districts not specifically named aren’t covered by his decision.

The closest schools to our area that are named are in the Sandwich school district. LaSalle-Peru High School board members met Sunday and decided they will not lift the mask requirements. Streator High School, not named in the case either, is figuring out what to do and is having an e-learning day today while it does.
