The city of Ottawa is giving residents the chance to honor someone who served in the US Military. Commissioner Marla Pearson says a banner program will recognize current or former Ottawa residents who served in any branch of the military on a first come first serve basis.
The banners will be placed on downtown light poles on LaSalle Street, Main Street, and Court Street before and after both Memorial Day and Veterans Day for a two year period. There are spots for only sixty banners and submissions.
Applications are due by Friday, March 11th and should be turned into Tami Koppen at City Hall.
