The search continues for more space for a homeless shelter in Ottawa. The City Council last night rejected the permit Illinois Valley PADS asked for to build a new shelter on E. McKinley Rd. Mayor Dan Aussem pledges the city’s support in the search.
PADS Executive Director Carol Alcorn was sure though that she had looked everywhere in town for three years.
Building something new on the city-owned site where PADS is now could get a new look. Deed restrictions because of the old feeder canal are gone, so there’s more room than previously thought.
