In a unanimous vote, the Peru City Council granted a special use permit for an adult-use cannabis dispensary. It will be located where the old Jimmy Johns sandwich shop was on 38th St.
Alderman Mike Sapienza says he still wished that the store would be located north of Interstate 80. Alderman Tom Payton says after a while, this dispensary will become just another small business. He says he too voted to place the dispensary north of Interstate 80.
Kana Grove Consultant Amanda Ostrowitz says the company is still waiting for the state to issue the license before they can sell. Mayor Ken Kolowski says the next step for the city is finding out what to do with the tax revenue.
