Last night Marquette lost a tough one to Midland 81-67 in the semi-final at the Tri-County Conference tournament.. Carson Zellers finished with 12 points and Tom Durdan scored 11 points for the Crusaders.
Marquette will now face Putnam County on Friday in the 3rd place contest. Putnam County fell short to Seneca 64-58. The Championship will be Midland versus Seneca.
Tonight in girls Basketball
Marquette will host Henry at Bader Gym, Streator is at Manteno, LP is home taking on Sandwich, Seneca travels to Roanoke-Benson and St Bede is home facing Kewanee.
Ottawa hosted Seneca and Dwight in a triangular event in wrestling. Winners for the Pirates: Malachi Snyder, Tristan Simmons and Ryan Wilson. Winners for the Irish who competed: Owen Feiner , Asher Hamby, Nathan Grant, Kyler Hahn, Jaden Casey and Chris Peura
Junior High Sports
The Shepherd 7th graders defeated Minooka 39-23 in the Regional Championship in basketball. Leading the way for the Rams was Griffin Dobberstein with 23 points and 16 rebounds. Shepherd will host the sectional game on Wednesday February 2nd.
The Shepherd volleyball teams competed with Bureau Valley.
The 7th graders won in 3 sets. Leading the way was Adelynn Russell scoring 12 points 4 assists and Kendall Biba with 10 points.
The 8th grade team lost in 3 matches. Isabelle Markey had 10 points 5 Kills and Skylar Nodland finished with 6 points for the Lady Rams.
The Grand Ridge Volleyball teams competed against MVK.
The 8th graders lost in 3 matches. Ava Offermann had 18 points for the Lady Mohawks.
The 7th grade team also fell short in 3 sets. Bella Fisher celebrated her birthday with 9 points for Grand Ridge.
