Joan Mary (Johnson) Blum, 84, of Ottawa, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, with Rev. Bruno Byomuhangi, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Mueller Funeral home in Ottawa and on Wednesday morning, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Liturgical prayer will be recited at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Joan was born on October 5, 1937 in Joliet to Herbert and Mary (Lucas) Johnson. She married Raymond B. Blum on August 4, 1956 at St. Cyril Church in Joliet. Joan was a member of the St. Cyril’s Women’s Club and volunteered at the Sandwich Hospital. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, watching mystery TV shows, latch hook, and growing flowers.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; six children, Ellen (Glenn) Calvert of Hinckley, Darlene (Jim) Wiltfong of Ottawa, Michael (Blum) Lori Peterson of Sheridan, Connie (Tim) Wiltfong of Palm Cost, FL, Cathy Blum of Plainfield, and Oliver (Wendy) Blum of Ottawa; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons-in-law; and Uncle Mickey Lucas.
Pallbearers will be Arlington Hoadley, Patrick Mudron, Matthew Blum, Jonathan Briick, Tyler Gordon, and Bradley Wiltfong.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
