Ottawa’s city council hasn’t figured out how to pay for it yet, but it approved ordering a new tower truck for the fire department. The city could borrow the $1.5 million needed. Commissioner James Less says City Hall is looking over the financing proposals. The city’s current tower truck is about 26 years old and is wearing out so much it may not function as a tower truck much longer. City Hall is placing the new truck order with MacQueen Equipment. It’ll take more than a year to build the truck.
