The city of Marseilles accepted bids to sell lots that they don’t need. The two lots they sold at yesterday’s meeting were for two major projects the city has been working on over the past year.
Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says one of the lots bought was sold to the city so they could continue to realign Commercial and Broadway Streets. He says the city doesn’t need it and the land is adjacent to Ziggys Bar and Grill.
The owner of Ziggys Bar and Grill ended up buying the lot. The other lot was purchased by a man named Kenneth Bell who bought the lot for about $4,000.
Hollenbeck says that land was originally obtained by the city when they swapped land with Nucor Tubular for the new boat launch.
