The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp has dropped the first NFT in team and Prospect league history. General Manager June Keeley says an NFT is like an online collectable that has value like a painting or sculpture.
Keeley says the NFT is a picture of former Pistol Shrimp player Christian Meriwether. She says that he had a role in creating the image.
She says this first token will be the only one for now, making it quite valuable.Anyone who wants to bid can go to Rarible dot com.
Keeley says the bidding will close on Sunday, January 30th. She also says that whoever win the bid gets some extra perks for the season.
The winner will get four drinks during every 2022 home game, a reserved parking spot at Veterans Memorial Park for all 30 home games, and will get the chance to throw out the first pitch a the Home Opener on June 2nd.
Plus, the owner will get to bring a friend on the team bus with the players on a road trip to attend an away game.
