Last night on WCMY, Marquette won a thriller at Newark 57-56. The Crusaders Tom Durdan sank both his free throws with three tenths of a second left in the game to seal the victory. Beau Ewers led the Cru with 15 points.
Also in boys basketball, St Bede lost at Kewanee 76-61. Paul Hart scored 32 points for the Bruins in the loss and Seneca won at home over Coal City 58-30.
Tonight the Ottawa Pirates are in Rochelle to face the Hubs.
Last night in girls basketball, Serena won on the road at Reed-Custer 58-20. Katie Baker had a big night for the Lady Huskers with 32 points, five rebounds, eight steals and six assists.
The Ottawa boys bowling team placed 3rd at the Interstate eight conference tournament. For the Pirates Colin Sheridan led the way with a 1098 six game series score and high game of 205, Nelson Brandt added a high game of 255 and Sean Miller scored a high score of 232.
The LP Cavaliers won the Championship with Ethan Picco scoring a high game of 245. The Regionals are on Saturday in Channahon

The Bulls won every quarter on their way to a 133-87 blowout of the Pistons in Chicago. Nikola Vucevic netted 22 points and DeMar DeRozan had 20 for the Bulls, who have won 10 of their last 11. The Bulls are right back in action tonight hosting the Brooklyn Nets.
The Blackhawks are celebrating their first winning streak since mid-November. Alex DeBrincat scored twice as the ‘Hawks doubled up the Blue Jackets 4-2 in Columbus for their second straight win. The Blackhawks look to make it three in-a-row when they host Montreal tomorrow.
The 24th-ranked Fighting Illini extended their winning streak to five straight with an 81-71 victory at Nebraska. Trent Frazier poured in a season-high 29 points for Illinois, which improved to 12-and-3 on the season including a perfect 5-and-0 in Big Ten play. The Illini host Michigan on Friday.
Northern Illinois narrowly beat Kent State 65-63. The Huskies face Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
The Chicago Bears are lining up interviews for their vacant head coach and general manager positions. Reports have the team linked to several names including recently fired Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, former Eagles coach Doug Pederson, and Bills Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

The Shepherd 7th grade team defeated Bureau Valley 40-30 in the semi-finals. Leading the way for the Rams were Dane Schmitz with 12 points and Griffin Dobberstein scoring 11 points, Shepherd will now play Streator Northlawn for the championship on Thursday night.
Shepherd 8th graders lost to LaSalle Lincoln 40-25 in the semi-finals. Lucas Farabaugh led the Rams with 7 points and will play Bureau Valley in the 3rd place game also on Thursday night.
