No one spoke against the proposed Somonauk and Leland school district consolidation at a hearing at the Etna Rd. courthouse in Ottawa Monday. Somonauk resident Rebecca Herlien likes the idea of her three children having more classes and school activities to choose from.
If voters approve the consolidation on June 28th, residents of the combined district would vote for a new Board of Education in November. The new district would begin operations on July 1 next year. Leland School Supt. Jodi Moore says the proposal to combine the Somonauk and Leland school districts would use all the districts’ buildings, putting different grade levels in each.
