Ottawa City Council members want to order a new fire truck this month. MacQueen Equipment of Wisconsin will raise prices on February 1st. It’s offering a discount if the entire price is paid up front. Commissioner Wayne Eichelkraut says the $41,000 upfront discount isn’t so much though if the city has to borrow the $1.5 million.

The fire department’s current tower truck is about 25 years old and has a lot of wear that could put it out of service. If the City Council approves ordering a replacement later this month, the new truck would be built over the next year or more.
