Correction: An earlier version of this story erroneously said the meeting is scheduled for Thursday. It is scheduled for Friday, January 7 at 7:30am. We regret the error.
In case remote learning is necessary again at Ottawa High School, the school board needs a plan. That’s been added to the agenda for a special board meeting to begin at 7:30 Friday morning. School administrators have said all along during the pandemic, how they’ll hold classes is subject to change based on information that comes in every day about COVID case numbers and public health guidelines. The board had already planned to meet to certify mid-year graduates and for a closed session on a personnel issue.
Supt. Mike Cushing says adding remote learning to the special meeting agenda is procedural. He says the Regional Office of Education has told school boards they need to have a plan in place in case it becomes necessary. For now, he says Ottawa High is not planning on returning to remote learning.
