The city of Peru is developing a new commercial and housing district. The land is located north of Baker Lake with 57 single family homes and three commercial lots for businesses.
City Engineer Eric Carls says that 20 of the lots have already been sold. Carls says that this project will not only help families move into Peru, but it will help the area around the lake. He says that the project would help a silting issue.
He says that the lot development will begin in the next few weeks, and lots will tentatively be available to build homes in fall and winter of 2022. He says the project is good for the city.
He says that people should be able to move into the homes by 2023.
