Last night on WCMY, the Ottawa Lady Pirates held on to beat Canton 31-30 at the Ottawa Holiday tournament. Zoe Harris led the way with 11 points and seven rebounds and Brooke Waddell added eight points for the Lady Pirates.
Also at the Holiday Tournament: Newark out scored Illinois Valley Central 57-32. Kellie Snyder led the Lady Norsemen with 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Metamora defeated Dixon, 29-22.

Other games scheduled tonight in the final round at the Lady Pirates Holiday Tournament: Newark will face LP in the 5th place matchup and Caton will take on Dixon in the 3rd place contest.
In Boys basketball
Marquette won on the road at Alleman 64-32. Logan Nelson and Beau Ewers each scored 13 points and Griffin Walker added 10 For the Crusaders.
The LP Cavaliers were winners at Sandwich 54-40.
Elsewhere in sports
The Chicago Bulls are back on the hardwood tonight hosting the Toronto Raptors. The Bulls won the first two on its current four-game homestand after beating the Rockets on Monday. The Bulls sit at 19-and-10 overall.
Last night there were NFL games due to a Covid-19 reschedule.
The Los Angeles Rams beat The Seattle Seahawks 20-10 at SoFi Stadium. Matt Stafford threw for 244 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the winning effort. The Rams improved to 10-and-4. Seattle’s offense struggled all game and Russell Wilson played a big role in that as he completed 17 passes for only 156 yards and an interception
The Eagles defeated the Washington Football Team 27-17 in Philadelphia. Miles Sanders rushed for 131 yards for the Eagles, who improved to 7-and-7. Garrett Gilbert threw for 194 yards in the loss for Washington Team, who fell to 6-and-8.
Couple of Bowl games in College Football: At the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise Idaho, Wyoming defeated Kent State 52-38. Over in the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Fisco Bowl in Frisco Texas, San Diego State outscored UTSA 38-24.
In college basketball The ISU Redbirds defeated UTSA 81-61.
The National Hockey League is expected to opt out of the 2022 Winter Olympics in China due to COVID. Both the NHL and NHL Players Association reportedly came to an agreement to not have players participate in the men’s hockey tournament in the Beijing Games. As of December 21st, the NHL has postponed 50 games due to coronavirus outbreaks. The league already paused its season through Christmas.
