Oglesby Library Director Jill Shevokas says she had to ask the city for tax increment financing fund money for building repairs. It’ll cost $9,050 to repair the gutters, downspouts, and masonry. She told the City Council, the library board can’t raise its tax levy enough to cover it, and it loses some property tax money to the TIF.
The City Council granted the library board’s request this week. At an earlier meeting, the City Council put the request on hold because the project quotes weren’t easy to understand.
